“Sometimes you have to move on”- Ruben Amorim warns Manchester United stars as summer transfer window looms

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim confirms players are aware of impending exits ahead of a crucial transfer window.

Manchester United are struggling this season, having lost 12 and won only nine out of 27 matches this season. They’re now sitting in 14th place in the Premier League table. In the midst of this, head coach Ruben Amorim has revealed that several players already know they are likely to leave the club this summer.

Amorim is preparing for a significant squad overhaul this summer and he has been vocal about it. Now it is clear that the upcoming transfer window will be crucial in reshaping the team to fit his tactical vision. Taking charge at the club only three months ago, Amorim has been vocal about his plans to revamp the squad.

The 40-year-old has emphasized that only the players that fit his strict 3-4-2-1 system will be needed at the club. Speaking about possible departures in the summer transfer window, the head coach said:

“Yes, we can talk about that in the end [of the season] because it’s hard to… we have a lot of games still to play and to talk about but that is clear, and I think that is not a difficult situation because everybody understands that in football; sometimes you stay, sometimes you have to move on.”

Man United’s hope of a silverware is still alive in the FA Cup where they will face Fulham. However, Amorim is not holding back for that. He has previously insisted that he is “not ruthless,” but also stressed that he believes in being upfront with his players regarding their futures at the club. He added:

“If you know how to explain for me [it] is easy. If I know how to explain, I can do it without [friction] and I like to do it because I want to be clear when I was a player. Also, I try to use all that experience. When you are honest with someone, they can take it. In the beginning, it is hard, but they will understand.”

Striker a Priority in Transfer Plans

Man United will be focusing primarily on signing a striker in the summer transfer window. They will also be looking for reinforcements in other positions. Their only transfers in winter being Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven, Amorim is expecting several more significant moves in the summer.

However, with Manchester United’s financial constraints set to play a role, they will need to sell many players before they can buy any. The new head coach acknowledged these financial difficulties but he expressed confidence in the project, saying:

“I felt that they were honest, but I need to see things and to feel things myself. So I knew the situation. I knew that it was a risk, but we are surviving and doing everything, and I think today is really hard. I know, but this is going to help us in the future. So I have hope. We will see.”
