Lakers vs Mavericks: Will Anthony Davis play tonight against Lakers?

Garima Ranawat

Anthony Davis has played only one game for the Mavericks so far.

The Los Angeles Lakers are set to clash against the Dallas Mavericks in a highly-anticipated fixture on February 25 at home. While both teams have had many memorable clashes in last few years, Tuesday would be a bit different.

Luka Doncic won’t be spotted in the Mavericks jersey, and Anthony Davis won’t cheer for LeBron James and Co. It will be the first time both sides will lock horns since the jaw-dropping trade deal that sent the entire NBA fraternity into a state of shock.

Following their last meeting on January 7, Luka Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers while Anthony Davis headed to the Dallas Mavericks along with Max Christie. While Doncic has finally found his rhythm back, Anthony Davis has been on the sidelines with his left adductor injury.

The Mavs’ big man suffered a non-contact injury on his debut game for Dallas. The 31-year-old announced his arrival with 26 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists in 31 minutes of gameplay before the injury ended his stay.

The 116-105 win remains his only game in the Mavs jersey since then, and needless to say, fans are dying to see the 10-time All-Star back in action.

Will Anthony Davis play against the Lakers tonight?

To see Anthony Davis teaming up against his former teammates would have been nothing less than a treat for the fans. However, the 31-year-old is not likely to make his return to the court anytime soon.

Recently, the Mavs shared an update about Davis stating that he has been making good progress and will be re-evaluated in two weeks. Not only this, but a video of Davis surfaced on social media where he was seen on the court for a light pregame workout.

While the video has emerged as a ray of hope for fans, they will have to wait for a few weeks to see the veteran back in action.
