The NBA 2024-25 opening night turned historic for LeBron James and his son Bronny James as they became the first father-son duo to play together in a regular-season NBA game. The Los Angeles Lakers’ season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Crypto.com Arena marked this special occasion.

Plenty of father-son duos have graced the fields and rinks of major sports leagues, but only a handful have had the unique experience of playing together simultaneously.
One such pair was the Griffeys, who shared the field for 51 games over two seasons. Their most memorable moment came on September 14, 1990, when they hit back-to-back home runs.
Another iconic duo is the Howes, with Gordie Howe playing parts of five decades in the NHL. His sons, Mark and Marty, joined him on the ice during the 1979-80 season with the Hartford Whalers.
Tim Raines Sr. and Jr. played together for the Orioles in 2001 in MLB, sharing the field for a total of four games.
