Josh Hart hilariously demands NBA ‘drug test’ for Celtics after historic night

Natasha Bose

Josh Hart suggests the Celtics' dominant display on opening night was so impressive, it might require a drug test!

The Boston Celtics were unstoppable with their 3-pointers, and despite the Knicks putting up a decent score, they simply couldn’t keep up. The Celtics not only cruised to a commanding victory, starting their season 1-0, but they also made history along the way.

It was their sharp shooting from beyond the arc that made the difference on the Celtics’ ring night. They knocked down 29 out of 61 shots from deep, tying the NBA record for most 3-pointers made in a single game. Knicks forward Josh Hart had a humorous take on the Celtics’ shooting spree.

Josh Hart reacts to Celtics’ shooting

“The NBA needs to drug test them dudes,” Hart said with a laugh, according to Knicks beat reporter James L. Edwards from The Athletic. “I ain’t ever seen anything like that.”

Though Hart’s comment was in jest, the Celtics did indeed break records with their shooting on opening night, sinking 29 triples against New York. His reaction highlights how overwhelming Boston’s performance was, as the Knicks were simply outclassed by a far superior team.

The Knicks now face the challenge of shaking off this heavy defeat. They’ll be looking to redeem themselves when they take on the Indiana Pacers on Friday at Madison Square Garden.

I write about sports because, well, it brings in the big bucks! I’m not some lifelong analyst or stats guru, truth being told, you’ve probably never heard of me!—I just know how to research, write, and make things sound good. That’s the job!
Got into sports media the same way most people do: by (fortunate) accident. Started with SEO writing, took on a few sports gigs, and now here we are! I cover games, trades, player drama—whatever needs words.
Favorite part? The chaos. One day it’s a blockbuster trade, the next it’s a goat running onto the field. Never boring.
Message to readers: If you want deep analysis, there are people for that. If you want sharp, no-BS writing that actually makes sense, stick around.
