Phoenix Suns have taken a dramatic step in pursuit of Miami Heat All-Star Jimmy Butler. The Suns have completed a trade with the Utah Jazz for first-round picks in 2025, 2027 and 2029. The latest development adds fuel to the potential Jimmy Butler trade before the deadline.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported earlier that the Phoenix Suns acquired three first-round picks from the Jazz in exchange for a 2031 unprotected first-round pick. The Suns are acquiring the least favorable firsts in 2025 of Cleveland/Minnesota, 2027 of Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah and 2029 of Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah.

Phoenix will get additional draft compensation to acquire the Miami Heat superstar forward. They are among the favorites to land him. Suns owner Mat Ishbia has already cleared that he will make significant changes to the roster.
Jimmy Butler made a trade request from the Miami Heat earlier this month and the Phoenix Suns are the frontrunners to acquire him. It was also reported on Tuesday that the Miami forward has ‘tripled down’ on his trade request.
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that Butler’s top destination is Phoenix Suns. He said, “Jimmy’s No. 1 focus is getting traded, preferably, to the Phoenix Suns. Everything else is secondary. Not getting traded to ‘Team X,’ not getting traded to ‘Team Y,’ getting traded to the Phoenix Suns.“
According to Forbes’ Evan Sidery, Jimmy Butler could be traded to the Suns in a potential four-team trade. Phoenix Suns would receive Jimmy Butler and Milwaukee would receive Bradley Beal. Miami Heat would receive Khris Middleton.

Suns star, Bradley Beal is open to waiving his no-trade clause to join the Bucks, as per Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro. Milwaukee are the frontrunners to acquire the three-time NBA All-Star in the potential four-team deal. It’s almost clear that Jimmy Butler and Bradley Beal will go to their favorable destinations as we approach the deadline on Feb. 6.
