‘Dak’s a Bum, They’ll Never Win with Dak’ – 4-Time NBA Champion Doesn’t Believe the Cowboys Can Win with Dak Prescott

Devavrat Kulkarni

NBA champion Draymond Green is not a fan of Dak Prescott!

With the 2025 NFL trade deadline coming to an end yesterday, the Dallas Cowboys made a couple of key signings in order to bolster their lackluster defense.

And while the Cowboys’ offense has performed more than decently this season, led, of course, by quarterback Dak Prescott under center, a four-time NBA champion doesn’t believe that he can lead the Cowboys to a Super Bowl win.

Dak Prescott Fails to Impress Draymond Green

Golden State Warriors’ power forward and 4-time NBA champion Draymond Green had certain things to say about Dak Prescott. Green was speaking to NFL insider Jordan Schultz on the latter’s podcast ‘Sports Around’, where the basketball player voiced his opinion about the Cowboys’ quarterback.

While Schultz tried to defend Prescott, especially when he pointed out that the veteran signal caller is having an MVP-caliber season, it was clear that Green was having none of it. The 35-year-old went on to give his account of why he feels Dak Prescott is a bum.

“Dak’s a bum. He’s getting some numbers, and they stink. He’s a bum. They’ll never win with Dak,” said Green before explaining further. “I won four championships, Jordan. So, you got to understand when I say bum, I’m not saying Dak Prescott isn’t a good NFL quarterback. Of course, he’s a good NFL quarterback. But I’m saying, when the money’s on the line, who are you? He’s a bum.”

Can the Cowboys Win a Super Bowl with Prescott under Center?

In order to determine whether the Cowboys can win a Super Bowl with Dak Prescott leading the offense, there are two things to consider. First and foremost, it is important to acknowledge the fact that Prescott has had better teams in the past, but he still fell short of the target.

A few years ago, Dallas had a quality offensive line, it had a strong defense, and decent weapons on the offensive side of the ball. However, crucial mistakes by Prescott have prevented the Cowboys from advancing deeper into the playoffs.

Now, however, the Cowboys’ quarterback is playing at an amazingly good level. He is currently fourth in the league in passing yards, ninth in the league in completion percentage (69.3%) amongst all quarterbacks to have attempted over 50 passes, has a 98.8 passer rating with 17 touchdowns and 6 picks.

Prescott’s stats are all quite good, even despite missing his top wide receiver, CeeDee Lamb, for 3 games this season. Yet, the reason the Cowboys are still 3-5-1 on the year is mainly due to their defensive issues.

Dallas has brought in a couple of players, Quinnen Williams and Logan Wilson, on the defensive side of the ball to make a push towards the postseason. But that does not seem like it will be enough to go deeper into the playoffs should they make it that far.

Only time will tell how this season shapes up for Prescott and the Cowboys, but one thing is for sure: the time to prove himself as a winner is slowly but surely ticking away.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
