2022 vs 2024 Roland Garros runner-up for the Rome title.
Coco Gauff and Jasmine Paolini will go pound for pound on Saturday, when they meet in the final of the 2025 Internazionali BNL d’Italia. It will be a first title at the Italian capital for the winner, and a massive confidence boost ahead of Roland Garros. While Gauff leads the head to head, Paolini has an advantage in terms of being on her home turf. Here are the match details for the summit clash:

Coco leads the head to head 2-1.
But Jasmine won their most recent meeting in Stuttgart this year, which was their only match on clay.

After winning the WTA Finals in late 2024, Coco Gauff was touted as the player to look out for this year. However, things didn’t go as planned initially. After a quarterfinal run at the Australian Open, she won only five matches in her next five tournaments. This included a Stuttgart Open loss to Paolini in straight sets. At the recently concluded Mutua Madrid Open however, the 21-year-old American reached the final. With over 71% service games won on clay, Gauff will fancy her chances.
While she is excelling on the doubles circuit, Jasmine Paolini is searching for her first trophy of the season just like Gauff. The Italian sensation reached two consecutive semifinals in Miami and Stuttgart, losing to Aryna Sabalenka on both occasions. A former Roland Garros runner-up, the 29-year-old is yet to win a title on the red dirt. She has a 9-2 record on the surface this year.
The head to head record between Gauff and Paolini is 2-1 in favour of the American. Her two wins came on hard courts at Adelaide and Cincinnati. Having met on the indoor clay courts of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix earlier this year, Paolini won in straight sets to pick up her first victory over the 2023 US Open champion.
The women’s singles Italian Open 2025 final will close the day’s proceedings on Saturday evening. Prior to Gauff vs Paolini will be the two men’s doubles semifinals.
