They defeated the Golden State Valkyries 86-75, before taking down the Phoenix Mercury in a blowout fashion. Notably, this year’s Commissioner’s Cup is the fifth edition of the tournament, which will eventually set the table for the Cup Championship game next month. It is to be noted that in the Commissioner’s Cup, no team has emerged as a repeat winner over the course of the contest.

The WNBA Commissioner’s Cup can be defined as an in-season tournament, which is hosted during the WNBA regular season. During this tournament, a few early-season interconference games are turned into the Cup-qualifying games. Apart from being counted in the official WNBA standings, these games count for the Commissioner’s Cup standings as well.
In this tournament, a total of 36 games are played, and this year, the tournament will be played from June 1 to June 17, 2025. In the Eastern Conference, each team will play 5 games, considering it has six teams.
In the Western Conference, one team will play six games, considering there are seven teams. For each team in the East, a total of three home games and two away games would be scheduled or two home and three away games would be scheduled. On the Western side, each team will play three home games and three away games.
The two best teams with the best record in the tournament in each conference will clash in the Championship game on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. The team with the best winning percentage in Cup play will host the final showdown.
