It's deja-vu with the Panthers and Oilers back in the Stanley Cup Final once again!
The Edmonton Oilers punched their ticket to the 2025 Stanley Cup Final with a game 5 win over the Dallas Stars, and in doing so, they set up a re-match of last year’s Stanley Cup Final against the Florida Panthers. A rare occurrence indeed, as the same two teams vie for bragging rights, but this time the Oilers will be out for revenge.
Last year, the Panthers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the best-of-7 series, but Edmonton fought back to force a game 7, but ended up narrowly losing 2-1 in the final game as Florida brought home the first Stanley Cup in franchise history.
This time around, though, the Oilers would have been terrific, especially in the playoffs, having won all but 4 games in their previous three rounds. So, will Edmonton get over the hump this year and claim its 6th Stanley Cup in franchise history, or will the Panthers go back-to-back for the first time since the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2020 and 2021?
The 2025 Stanley Cup Final will get underway on Wednesday, June 4. The series will continue with regular days off in between games, with game 2 scheduled for Friday, June 6, game 3 scheduled for Monday, June 9, and game 4 on Thursday, June 12. Games 4, 5, and 7, if required, will be played on Saturday, June 14, Tuesday, June 17, and Friday, June 20 respectively.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
