The Celtics-Knicks Eastern Conference Semifinals series will begin on Monday, May 5.

The reigning champions Boston Celtics will welcome the New York Knicks at TD Garden on Monday, May 5, for the opening clash of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The Celtics are heading into the series on the back of a 4-1 win over the Orlando Magic in the first round series. The New York Knicks, on the other hand, wrapped up the series against the Detroit Pistons in six games, registering a 4-2 win.

It wasn’t an easy win for the Knicks, and they had to come from behind in the final quarter in three of its four wins. It was a close-contested series, with the largest wining margin being 11 points.

Talking about their respective regular-season campaigns, New York finished with a better record than the previous year, and posted a tally of 51 wins and 31 losses to earn the third seed in the East.

The Celtics, on the flip side, crossed the 60-win mark and finished the season with a tally of 61-21. The record earned them the second spot on the standings. They, along with the OKC Thunder, are the only two teams that finished in top five of the offensive and defensive ratings. They have emerged as one of the biggest threats this season.

While the Knicks would be hopeful to make it to their first conference finals since 2000, the team consisting of stars like Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and Jrue Holiday, might make it their biggest nightmare.
