The 2025 NBA Cup kicked off on October 31, 2025, marking the return of the in-season tournament for its third edition. All 30 franchises are looking forward to adding their name to history as similar to the first winners, the Los Angeles Lakers and MVP LeBron James, and the reigning winners, Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The NBA Cup is a multi-stage tournament that features group play, followed by single-elimination knockout rounds. The group stage consists of three groups consisting of five teams per conference, totaling six groups. Each team plays four group stage games, and the record is counted towards both the tournament standings as well as regular season standings. Towards the end of the group stage, the winner of each group along with two wild card teams, one per conference, advance to the knockout stage.

Talking about the prize money of the 2025 NBA Cup, while the winners, like every season, will receive a trophy known as the NBA Cup, and each winning player will receive cash. But what is the amount? Let’s find out.

What is the Prize Money for 2025 NBA Cup?

According to the NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, the prize money for the NBA Cup is awarded on the basis of how far the teams have reached in the tournament. Players of the teams that have reached the quarterfinals will receive money over $50,000. Talking about the exact amount awarded to the winners, the sum is based on basketball-related income (BRI).

However, as per USA Today’s Jeff Zillgitt, here’s what each player received in 2024, based on their team’s performance.

Championship Winner: $514,790
Championship Finalist: $205,988
Semifinalist: $102,994
Quarter-finalist: $51,497

The above-mentioned amount also includes the coaching staff. Typically, the head coaches receive the same amount as per the player, while assistant coaches get an additional share of the pool money which equals 75 percent of the head coach’s total payout.

According to the NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, the tournament is designed to bring out the playoff intensity to the regular season. And it seems that the extra money that the players receive is seemingly doing exactly that.
