2025 French Open Draw Revealed – Sinner, Djokovic, Zverev in Same Half As Defending Champion Carlos Alcaraz Gets Tricky Round 1 Matchup

French Open 2025 - A tough top half draw to set up plenty of excitement!

The 2025 French Open draw has been revealed, and there is plenty of excitement as all the top players will embark on a 2-week-long journey culminating with the last man standing holding aloft ‘La Coupe des Mousquetaires’ (The Musketeers’ Trophy).

Last year, we witnessed a thrilling encounter between Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev in the final. The pair battled on court for 4 hours and 19 minutes in a gruelling 5-set encounter. The back-and-forth contest finally ended with the Spaniard claiming his first title at Roland Garros after taking the final set.

On to this year’s edition, and there are plenty of stars to watch out for. Jannik Sinner will enter the tournament as the number one seed, followed by Alcaraz at number 2. Zverev and Taylor Fritz round up the top 4 this year.

Matteo Berrettini and David Goffin are a couple of notable absentees from the 2025 Roland Garros edition due to injuries, while Stan Wawrinka and local favorite Richard Gasquet are the prominent wildcard entrants.

Sinner, Djokovic, and Zverev Headline the Top Half of the Draw

The top half of the 2025 French Open draw seems to have much more flair to it with the likes of Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, and Alexander Zverev all together. Other notable names in this half of the draw include Jack Draper and Daniil Medvedev.

If things go according to plan, top seed Jannik Sinner could potentially face the number 5 seed Jack Draper in the quarterfinals, with a potential semi-final clash against either Zverev or Djokovic. His potential opponent in the final could be none other than the number two seed, Carlos Alcaraz.

Novak Djokovic, who is bidding to extend his Grand Slam count to 25, will potentially face Daniil Medvedev in round 4, followed by Zverev in the quarters, Sinner or Draper in the semis, and Alcaraz in the final.

Alcaraz Drawn With Fritz and Ruud in the Bottom Half

The bottom half of the draw looks like a comparatively easier one, especially for defending champion Alcaraz. However, he does get his tournament underway with a tricky opening round matchup against Kei Nishikori.

He could then face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the 4th round, followed by Casper Ruud in the quarters, Taylor Fritz or Holger Rune in the semis, and either of the three between Sinner, Zverev, and Djokovic in the final.

Lorenzo Musetti could also throw up a surprise in this half of the draw as he has been having an excellent run during the clay-court season. Similarly, Casper Ruud and Holger Rune are also dangerous opponents lingering in the bottom half. Both players have won clay-court titles this year, which will give them a big boost in Paris.

I am a content writer for the NFL team, and joined The Playoffs after working with Sportskeeda and NFL Analysis as an NFL writer. After starting my professional career as a French-to-English translator, working as a content writer is a new adventure for me. I started out in the sports media field for two main reasons: my love for sports in general, especially the NFL, NBA, and Tennis, as well as my passion for writing. The best part of this job is that I get to write a variety of pieces with the freedom to explore content from various angles. It also enables me to stay up to date with the sporting world, which otherwise can be difficult to do in the day-to-day grind. In a world full of chaos, sports unite and entertain like nothing else!
