NFL Week 18 Wrap-Up: 2025 NFL Draft Order Takes Shape

Week 18 and 2024 regular season is over : let's have a look on the draft order

With the conclusion of the regular season, the 2025 NFL draft order is now partially set, leaving only the positions of playoff-bound teams undecided.

Major Shake-Up at the Top of the Draft

A significant shift occurred at the top of the draft order. Following the Titans’ loss to the Texans and the Patriots’ victory over the Bills, Tennessee secured the first overall pick.

Meanwhile, losses by the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants positioned those teams at the second and third picks, respectively. Notably, the Patriots’ win in Week 18 dropped them to the fourth pick, shortly after the team parted ways with head coach Jerod Mayo.

Winners, Losers, and Movement in the Draft Order

Similarly, victories by the Panthers and Jets caused both teams to drop slightly in the draft standings. Conversely, losses by the Raiders and Saints allowed them to climb a few spots. On the other hand, the Bengals and Seahawks, both of whom finished the season with winning records, hold the 17th and 18th picks, respectively.

How the Draft Order Works

The top 18 picks in the NFL Draft are determined by the regular-season records of non-playoff teams. The team with the worst record earns the first overall pick, with the rest following in ascending order.

After the 18th pick, the order shifts to playoff teams, with their position determined by how far they advance in the postseason.

The draft order after Week 18 reflects the current standings in the NFL. It takes into account division placements and which teams qualified for the playoffs at the conclusion of the regular season.
