The Women’s Pro Baseball League is set to launch in 2026.
Following a groundbreaking season in the WNBA that saw a surge in popularity, the United States is now set to welcome the Women’s Pro Baseball League (WPBL).
The Women’s Pro Baseball League (WPBL), co-founded by former Oakland Athletics coach Justine Siegal and lawyer Keith Stein, aims to provide a platform for female baseball players to showcase their talents.
“The Women’s Pro Baseball League is here for all the girls and women who dream of a place to showcase their talents and play the game they love.”
“We have been waiting over 70 years for a professional baseball league we can call our own. Our time is now.”
Siegal said during WPBL’s press release.
The announcement of the WPBL comes amid a significant rise in the popularity of women’s professional sports in the U.S.
The WNBA recorded an all-time high attendance and viewership, while the National Women’s Soccer League secured a record $240 million domestic TV deal.

The league is founded by Justine Siegal and Keith Stein. Siegel was the first woman to coach professional men’s baseball in the United States.

The league will feature six teams, “predominantly” based in the Northeast.
The WPBL is aiming to have a full season, as well as playoffs and a championship round.
