Sixers are struggling with a 1-5 record at the start of the season.
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid has yet to make his season debut, but off-court controversies have already hogged the limelight. The star center has been handed a three-game suspension by the NBA after an altercation with a reporter.
The incident occurred following the 76ers’ loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on November 2. Embiid, visibly upset by a column that referenced his late brother and son, engaged in a heated exchange with the reporter and allegedly shoved him.
This suspension comes at a critical time for the 76ers, who have been struggling with a 1-5 record at the start of the season.

Notably, this is not the first controversy Joel Embiid has been involved in this season. Last week, the NBA fined the Philadelphia 76ers for making “inconsistent” statements about the health of their All-Star center, who has been sidelined with what the team is calling left knee management.

Despite this setback, there is a silver lining for 76ers fans. Embiid is likely to make his much-anticipated season debut on November 12, 2024, when Philadelphia hosts the New York Knicks at Wells Fargo Center.
Initially sidelined due to a left knee issue, Embiid’s return is expected to provide a much-needed boost to the team.
The struggling 76ers will travel to Los Angeles to play the Clippers on Wednesday at Intuit Dome. Both teams enter this game on the back of contrasting results. While the hosts registered a win over Spurs in their last game, the Sixers suffered a narrow defeat to the Phoenix Suns.
