Garima Ranawat

The defeat dropped the Warriors' tally to 9-9.

On Friday, November 22, the Golden State Warriors suffered a home-loss to the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2025 NBA Cup group stage game despite a remarkable performance by Stephen Curry. The Warriors superstar came up with 38 points, two rebounds, and four assists to lead the charts. Apart from him, Jimmy Butler and Brandin Podziemski scored 20 points each for the side, while Draymond Green came up with 11 points for the Warriors.

On the other hand, Deni Avdija and Caleb Love poured in 26 points each for the Trail Blazers. In addition, they contributed six rebounds, 13 assists and seven rebounds, five assists, respectively. Toumani Camara came up with 20 points for the winners whereas Donovan Clingan dropped 22 points. In addition to them, Sidy Cissoko scored 15 points for the visitors.

As the loss dropped the Warriors tally to 9-9 in the ongoing season, while the Trail Blazers improved to 7-9, let’s have a look at the takeaways from the game.

Warriors Fall Short Despite Stephen Curry’s Big Night

Stephen Curry added another notable performance to his personal record and dropped 38 points for the side with two rebounds and four assists. He was shooting 14-of-23 from the field and 9-of-17 from the three-point range. On the other hand, the Trail Blazers put up a combined effort and Avdija, Love and Clingan dropped a total of 74 points to overshadow Curry’s performance.

Deni Avdija’s Near Triple Double Powers Blazers’ Resilience

Deni Avdija dropped 26 points, six rebounds, and career-high 13 assists to power the Trail Blazers’ road resilience. Paired with Clingan’s 22 points and Camara’s 20 points, Avdija boosted the below-seeded team to pull an upset over the seven-time champions. With the win, Portland improved its win-loss tally in the NBA Cup to 2-1, while the Dubs have been dropped to 1-2 in the ongoing in-season tournament.

Brandin Podziemski Reaches 20 Points for Second Game

It was for the second time this ongoing season that Brandin Podziemski dropped 20 points for the Warriors. The first time was during the Loss against the Miami Heat. While Podziemski needed 19 shot attempts in the previous game, he was much more efficient during the game against the Trail Blazers. He scored 15 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field in the first half itself, helping his team get a 72-65 lead at break. However, despite a promising game, he failed to get his team past the rivals.
