Warriors vs Pacers: Three Takeaways as Jimmy Butler’s 21 Points Move Warriors Past Injury-Riddled Pacers

The Golden State Warriors snapped their two-game losing streak by handing a 114-83 loss to the Indiana Pacers in a NBA regular season clash on Sunday, November 10. Jimmy Butler led the Dubs in the absence of Stephen Curry with 21 points, seven assists and nine rebounds. Will Richard dropped 15 points off the bench, while Quinten Post and Brandin Podziemski came up with 14 points each. Two more players, including Moses Moody and Al Horford finished with double-digit scores.

On the other hand, the Pacers, who have been struggling due to prolonged injury of key players, dropped to their ninth defeat of the season. The team was led by Andrew Nembhard in the absence of Pascal Siakam with 14 points. Jay Huff, Jarace Walker and Isaiah Jackson dropped 12 points apiece for the Pacers, who have been able to secure only one win thus far.

In the absence of Stephen Curry, Butler took the charge for the Dubs and came up with 21 points, on 10-of-15 shooting from the field. He became the fastest player in the history of the Warriors to record 500+ points, 200+ rebounds, & 200+ assists. Not only this, but Butler now has a 73% win percentage with the Warriors. He took over when needed and executed smart passes to keep things in control for the hosts. With his scoring lead, the Dubs wore down the Pacers, with 43.2% shooting from the field.

After a competitive initial half, the Golden State Warriors started to find rhythm towards the end of the second quarter of the game. With less than four minutes remaining in the half, the Pacers’ offense went ice cold when the Warriors started to figure things out. Though the Pacers managed to generate some shots in the final seconds, the Dubs still managed to outscore them 25-20 and went to the locker room with a 48-41. Leads kept changing in the third quarter but the Dubs managed to close it on a 10-0 run and gained a 75-65 lead to enter the final frame.

Indiana Pacers’ Injury Issues Prove too Much to Overcome

The Indiana Pacers have already been shorthanded in the ongoing season. However, despite that, they rested Pascal Siakam. During Sunday’s game, the Pacers squad couldn’t match their rivals’ level of physicality or keep up with them when things got hot. Though the young players tried to battle hard but couldn’t find enough offense. This highlights how tough it is to play against a talented team when your key players aren’t on the floor.
