Tyreek Hill Trade Rumors: Dolphins WR debunks trade speculations

"I’d love to be here moving forward"

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill had fans speculating about his future after he posted a couple of cryptic tweets on Wednesday. However, as Hill later clarified in his own words, he simply enjoys messing with NFL fans. When asked about the rumors regarding a potential move to the Chiefs or elsewhere, Hill addressed the situation directly.

Hill is not upset with the team’s recent performance, and he made that clear during media session. He also stressed that he has no interest in leaving.

“I’m just focused on right here and right now,” Hill said. “We’ve got a beautiful team here and I want to be a part of it. We’ve got a great situation here.”

The idea of Tyreek Hill reuniting with the Chiefs isn’t completely far-fetched

After all, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is currently on the injured reserve list due to a sternoclavicular injury and hasn’t played yet this season. Additionally, Kansas City’s wide receiver Rashee Rice is also dealing with an injury, which has sparked plenty of discussions about how the Chiefs might strengthen their receiving corps in the coming weeks. One suggestion that’s been floating around is a trade to bring Hill back to Kansas City.

Despite the speculation, Tyreek Hill, one of the league’s fastest players, made it clear where his heart lies.

“My family loves it, I enjoy it, the weather’s great, the fans are great. So, we’ve got a beautiful situation here, man. Obviously, my parents always taught me to control the controllables. I only can control so much. With that being said, we all know the NFL is a business. Whatever happens, happens. Moving forward, I would love to be here. I love being here. I love the guys.”

Although Hill acknowledges the Dolphins could make a decision without his input, a trade would have serious financial consequences for the team, especially after they restructured his contract earlier this summer.

A Rough stretch for Miami’s offense

Miami’s offense has struggled since quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in Week 2, leaving his return uncertain. During Monday’s 31-12 home loss to the previously winless Titans, Hill caught only four passes for 23 yards, while the entire team managed just 184 yards. In Week 1 with Tagovailoa, Hill shined with seven receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown.

But over the next three games, his production plummeted to 10 catches for 87 yards and no scores. The offensive struggles became more pronounced with Skylar Thompson as the starter in Week 3, and Tyler Huntley taking over for Game 4.

Tyreek Hill was visibly frustrated by the turn of events in the second half of Monday’s game, but head coach Mike McDaniel didn’t see a problem with that.

“I would expect him to be visibly upset at somebody,” McDaniel said. “He’s a leader and he wanted to do everything that he could to make sure the result wasn’t that. Within the locker room, there’s a lot of guys challenging each other, and we get an opportunity to see what we’re made of, for sure.”

Looking ahead

Earlier in August, Miami reworked Hill’s contract into a three-year, $90 million deal. His performance in his first two seasons with the Dolphins has been stellar, with a career-high 119 catches each season, 1,710 receiving yards in 2022, and a league-best 1,799 yards last year.

Tyreek Hill also recorded 20 touchdown receptions across both seasons. The eight-time Pro Bowler, who made six consecutive appearances while with the Kansas City Chiefs before his trade to Miami, is hopeful for a better offensive performance this Sunday against the New England Patriots.

Tyreek Hill angry at staff

Hill supported Tyler Huntley, who will start again at quarterback. “Snoop is awesome,” Hill said about Huntley.

“For him to be here for (two) weeks and for him to be prepared the way he was prepared for that Monday night game, in my book that’s trending upwards. Because our offense is so complicated and there’s so many motions and words in the play call, and for him to get all that down in a week or so, it’s tremendous.”
