The NBA fans and pundits were left in shock after Charlotte Hornets star point guard LaMelo Ball was snubbed from second All-Star selection. The NBA announced the names of 14 reserves for the 2025 All-Star Game on Thursday, Jan. 30, resulting in a few unexpected snubs.
Ball, who had only appeared in the All-Star Game once previously, was not included in the group, leaving fans in disbelief as he is currently in one of his best sessions. His sunb came as a surprise as Ball led the Eastern Conference guards in fan votes with 2,421,385 votes.
However, since fan votes comprise only 50% of the overall All-Star starters, it means that he didn’t get enough support from current players and media members to book his spot.
Notably, the Hornets are 12-32, but Ball has been delivering terrific performances overall. In 31 games that he has played so far, LaMelo has averaged 28.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 41.9 percent from the floor and 33.7 percent from three-point range.

Not only this, but he is also occupying the fourth spot in the scoring list. Moreover, Ball averages more PPG, RPG and APG than every Eastern Conference All-Star reserve.

This isn't a snub. It's robbing the fans of the guy that they very obviously wanted to watch play basketball and non-stop voted for to make happen. Comical robbery pic.twitter.com/TGcUtUezyk
Apart from him, other notable snubs from the East were Trae Young, Tyrese Maxey, Tyrese Haliburton, and Franz Wagner.
