Celtics’ Core Trio Attracts League Wide Interest
The Boston Celtics are bracing themselves for a huge summer where a lot of changes are going to take place. The Celtics’ roster could look drastically different in the coming months. Teams will be interested in many Celtics’ players.
This after it has been understood that the new ownership is not keen on the exuberant luxury taxes that the side is paying to the NBA. The Boston Celtics remain the most expensive side in the NBA, with their payroll hovering over $500 million.
Joe Mazzulla’s side failed to defend their NBA title, bowing out in the semifinals to the New York Knicks. The defeat further reasoned owner Bill Chisholm to trim down the expensive roster. According to ESPN journalist Shams Charania, the Celtics front office will remain one of the busiest in the summer.

With Jayson Tatum’s injury, things have further complicated for the Boston Celtics. Jaylen Brown was initially considered a trade asset, but that stance may need reassessment following Tatum’s injury. Tatum is expected to come back at the end of the next season.
ESPN journalist Shams Charania has revealed that the Celtics management are expected to trim down their squad. Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Al Horford are expected to attract interest in the summer. The Boston Celtics will likely listen to offers and try to get some players as well in exchange based on trade structure.
Shams Charania said, “They’re going to make trades. The Boston Celtics will have a much different roster next season. They’ll definitely have a different roster. The question is just how severe the movement is going to be for them.”
He added, “I think teams are gonna express a lot of interest in Jrue Holiday. Teams are gonna inquire about Kristaps Porzingis. Teams are gonna inquire about Jaylen Brown. The Celtics are gonna have to identify what value are we gonna get for each of these players, which player is it gonna make sense to trade?”
With a different Boston Celtics’ roster, the Eastern Conference will also look much more competitive. The signs of it were already there in this season’s playoffs. Legacy teams have suffered, while young teams with hunger have overtaken the bigger picture.
