“That’s Number One for Sure” – LeBron James Calls Playing With Bronny His Greatest Achievement

Akash Vaishnav

LeBron James while reflecting on the NBA season shared one of his top accomplishments that involves Bronny James too. The Los Angeles Lakers, once title favorites, crashed out on Thursday night against the Timberwolves. While looking back at the season and his overall career, LeBron James talked about having the privilege to play with son Bronny.

LeBron said, “Number one for sure (on where playing with Bronny ranks out of his accomplishments). That’s easy. That’s not even close. To be able to play the game that I love and to be able to be along with my son this whole year has been one of the most gratifying, satisfying journeys I’ve ever been on.

Bronny James and LeBron became the first father son duo to play together in the NBA within the same team. Bronny was a 55th pick of the Los Angeles Lakers at the 2024 NBA Draft. The 20-year-old played one year for the USC Trojans men’s college basketball team.

Bronny had a cracking start to the NBA with the Lakers providing him early opportunities. He however managed to average 2.3 points per game and shot at 31.3% from the field this season. Bronny James has showed flashes of brilliance this season and will look to become more consistent with the off season training.

Retirement Rumors Swirl Around LeBron James

The questions regarding LeBron James’ retirement have also started popping up after the Lakers crashed out of the playoffs. The 40-year-old has had an illustrious basketball career, spanning 22 seasons and still counting. However, the performances this season have not been consistent, and many Lakers fans believe it might be time to pass the baton.

LeBron recently clarified on his retirement status and revealed, “For me, the day I have no motivation to go to training, when I no longer have the illusion of playing a game, when I do not even start to review the books of analysis, plays, strategies, that will be the moment when I retire from basketball.”

He further said, “I’m not going to play that much longer, to be completely honest. I’m not playing until the wheels fall off. I’m not going to be the guy who’s disrespecting the game because I just want to be out on the floor. No, that won’t be me.”

James remains tight-lipped about his retirement timeline. However, it might not be too long until he hangs his boots with his current Lakers contract running down in 2026 with an additional year option. If the NBA legend doesn’t extend his contract, the upcoming season might be his last.

Furthermore, I got into the sports media while looking for an entry into the media industry. I love International Relations, and since entry without majoring in the subject was difficult, I got into sports. Now, while majoring in International Relations on one side, I also like covering sports as part of the journey as a young Journalist.
