Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Anthony Edwards sounded off when asked to share his thoughts on Karl-Anthony Towns’ recent trade to the New York Knicks.
KAT was shipped to the Big Apple, with Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo joining the Timberwolves in return.
At the Timberwolves media day, Edwards shared his feelings upon learning of the trade.
“I think everybody know KAT my brother so that definitely hurt,” Edwards said. “But you know it’s a business so I just gotta roll with it.”
“I feel like it’s kind of weird to talk about it because he just got traded,” Edwards added. “That’s my dawg, man. Wasn’t like a one or two situation. It was, we both was the one, we just played off of each other. I’m happy to be whatever the guy that they want me to be now but we was just together so it’s hard for me to talk about.”
Edwards further expressed how he plans to handle the situation, saying he is ready to get to know his new teammates whenever they set foot in Minnesota.
Four-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert shared his thoughts on Karl-Anthony Towns’ trade shortly after it occurred. Gobert took to his Instagram story to post a heartfelt message for Towns.
Gobert wrote, “Keep writing your unique story my brother! Grateful that i got to be a part of it!”
Together, Gobert and Towns formed one of the best big-man duos in recent NBA history. Their combined talents were instrumental in leading the Minnesota Timberwolves to a successful season.
Last season, the Timberwolves finished as the third seed in the Western Conference with an impressive 56-26 record.
In the playoffs, the Timberwolves swept the Phoenix Suns in the first round and triumphed over the Denver Nuggets in a hard-fought seven-game series. However, their journey ended in the Western Conference finals, where they faced the Dallas Mavericks.
Before Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert took the court in Timberwolves threads, Karl-Anthony Towns had already established himself as one of the league’s premier offensive big men. Drafted first overall by Minnesota in 2015, Towns quickly became the franchise’s cornerstone.
With Edwards emerging as a bona fide superstar, Towns made the significant decision to relinquish his status as the team’s top player.
Despite this shift, the nine-year veteran exhibited no signs of bitterness. Instead, he remained a consummate professional, continuing to contribute effectively on the offensive end.
