Former Creighton Bluejays’ star center Ryan Kalkbrenner is set to step into the professional world with his selection as the 34th pick in the 2025 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets. Having played five seasons at Creighton, Kalkbrenner finished his college career at an average of 14.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. In his freshman season with the team, Kalkbrenner came off the bench and recorded an average of 5.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game.

In 2022, he was named Honorable Mention All-Big East as well as Defensive Player of the Year. However, he suffered a knee injury in a clash against San Diego State in the NCAA Tournament. The injury put an end to his season while he was averaging 13.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. In 2024, the 23-year-old was named 2024-2025 Big East Conference Preseason of the Year. Kalkbrenner ended his final collegiate season with an average of 19.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per season.
