Artem Zub and Shane Pinto are two important members of the Ottawa Senators who are not currently playing in the lineup. Despite their absence, the Senators currently hold a 6-5-0 record.
Zub has been unable to play since October 14 due to suffering a concussion from a hit by Tanner Jeannot. Pinto has not participated in games since October 22 due to an unidentified injury. The Senators require Zub and Pinto to return promptly to have a complete roster. Fortunately, the Senators received positive updates today regarding the injuries of both Zub and Pinto.
Zub would spend a significant amount of time practicing drills, with a particular focus on working alongside Jake Sanderson. Zub had some positive news as he participated in the entire practice, unlike Pinto. Despite Pinto’s absence from the ice during the entire practice, Pinto is still advancing towards a return.
On October 31, head coach Travis Green announced that Zub is expected to be back in the lineup once he is skating with the entire team. Zub was skating by himself rather than with the group. Today, Zub showed significant improvement by staying on the ice for the entire practice.
Green also mentioned that Pinto did not need to stay for the whole practice, but he also stated that Zub would be playing sooner rather than later. The Senators need Zub’s defensive skills back in the lineup. Both Tyler Kleven and Jacob Bernard-Docker have performed exceptionally in Zub’s absence.
In the absence of Pinto, Adam Gaudette has emerged as a pleasant surprise, scoring six goals, while the rest of the Senators’ offense also performed strongly in October without him.
