OKC Thunder had another historical gameplay in Game 2 vs. Nuggets.

The Oklahoma City Thunder entered their names into the NBA record books for the highest-scoring first half in a playoff game. After suffering a 121-119 upset in the opening game of their Conference Semifinals series against the Denver Nuggets, the table-toppers Thunder made a stunning comeback in Game 2. They finished the first half with 87 points, setting an NBA record for most points scored in the opening half of a playoff game.

With this, they surpassed the previously-existing record of 86 points-half set by Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 4 of the 2017 NBA Finals. The Cavaliers had set the record against the Golden State Warriors on June 9, 2017.

OKC Thunder Match Record For Most-Points in Any Half of A Playoff Game

Not only this, but with it, the Thunder also matched the long-standing record of most points in any half of a playoff game set by the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks posted 87 points against Denver on April 23, 1978.

Coming back to Wednesday night’s game, the Thunder shot 58.8% from the field, 30-for-51, and 43.5% from the three-point arc, 10-for-23. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander came up with 18 points while forward Jalen Williams dropped in 13 points. Apart from them, a total of four other players tallied 10 points apiece. Earlier in the first quarter, Oklahoma City tied its own playoff record for points in a quarter as they led the Nuggets 45-21.
