Nuggets vs Lakers: Will LeBron James play tonight? Latest injury update on Lakers’ superstar

Garima Ranawat

LeBron James is averaging at 24.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game this season.

After snapping their two-game losing streak, the Los Angeles Lakers are set to take on the Denver Nuggets in their upcoming game on Saturday, Feb. 22. In their previous fixture, the Lakers took down the Trail Blazers 110-102. On the other hand, the Nuggets recorded their ninth straight win as they defeated Hornets 129-115.

The last game saw LeBron entering his name into NBA record books once again. As James finished with 40 points against the Trail Blazers, he became the only player in the league to have multiple 40 point games at the age of 40 and more.

Not only this, but James is also now on the third spot of the list of the most games played in the NBA. He overtook Vince Carter with his 1,542nd game and is now just 18 games behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who owns second spot on the standings with 1,560 games.

Notably, James was listed questionable on the injury report before he was cleared to feature against the Trail Blazers. The four-time NBA champion was forced to pull out of his 21st All-Star Game due to ankle soreness, and was declared questionable to play against the Hornets.

However, James made his appearance in his first game in nearly a week and finished with 26 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

Will LeBron James play against the Nuggets tonight?

Talking about the forthcoming game against the Nuggets, James has been listed as probable on the injury report with left foot injury management. Not only this, but the Lakers’ newest acquired superstar, Luka Doncic, who missed the previous Trail Blazers’ clash, has also been listed as probable with left calf injury management.

It is to be noted that Doncic missed nearly two months of action due to a calf injury which he sustained during Christmas, while being a part of the Mavericks. His game against the Utah Jazz on February 10, was not only his debut game in the Purple and Gold jersey, but also the first clash of the year.

Apart from Luka and James, Maxi Kleber is listed out due to right foot surgery recovery. Rookie Bronny James won’t be in action against the Nuggets as he is with the G-League side South Bay Lakers.

Coming back to Luka, the 25-year-old is averaging at 14.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game for the fifth-seeded Western Conference side. On the other hand, James, who has the most games (83) in NBA history with 20+ points, 2+ steals and no fouls, is averaging at 24.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 8.9 assists per game this season.
