Nikola Jokic Is Having a Historic Season and It’s Even Better Than His MVP Season Last Year!

Eric Divakaran

If you watched Nikola Jokic play basketball against the Timberwolves, you witnessed one of the greatest offensive performances in a single game. The Serbian had a 61 point triple-double last night against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Even the Wolves’ star Anthony Edwards went on to say that, Nikola Jokic… He might be the best basketball player I’ve ever seen.”

While the Nuggets ended up losing the game, there is no denying that Jokic had some of the best games of his career, if not the best.

Nikola Jokic’s Current Stats Are Even Higher Than It Was Last Year in His MVP Season

Jokic is currently averaging a triple double in the 2024-25 season, and his stats are even higher than what he achieved in the 2023-24 season. Last season, the Serbian averaged 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 9.0 assists. This season Jokic is having the best season of his career averaging 29.3 points, 12.8 rebounds, and 10.2 assists per game.

Jokic’s PER (Player Efficiency Rating) stands at 32.02 this season making him the most efficient player in the league, in front of the current MVP frontrunner. When we check the net rating this season, the Nuggets have a net rating of 5.5 with Nikola Jokic on the floor, but without him, they are -4.3 this season. This makes it clear that without the 3x MVP, the Nuggets may have not even been in the playoff picture right now.

How Many MVPs Has Nikola Jokic Won So Far?

Nikola Jokic has already won the NBA regular season MVP thrice in his NBA career. His first one came in 2020-2021 season, then the following season the Serbian won the award again making him only the 12th player in NBA history to win back-to-back MVP awards, and his third MVP award came in last season. Jokic is also only the 9th player in NBA history to win three or more MVP awards.

The greatness is undeniable at this point and to top it all off, he’s also an NBA champion, winning his first and only ring so far in the 2022-23 season, along with a finals MVP award.

This season, Jokic is once again one of the leading MVP candidates and even though OKC’s Shai Gilgeous Alexander is the clear favorite to win the MVP award, that doesn’t take away from the fact that Jokic is having an equally great year. Both the players in Nikola Jokic and Shai Gilgeous Alexander are having one of the best seasons we’ve ever seen, and even if Jokic ends up not winning the MVP, the fact remains that he will still be the best player on the planet.

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
