Nick Sirianni on hot seat after New York Jets Head Coach Robert Saleh fired

Robert Saleh became the first head coach to be fired this season. But many were expecting that the Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni would get the honors. The Eagles’ head coach still finds himself on the hot seat. The Eagles are 2-2 and would come back refreshed after their bye-week for week 5. But given the scenarios right now, Sirianni must be under a lot of pressure.

The Eagles reached the Super Bowl LVII but lost against the Chiefs. With a 14-3 record in the 2022 regular season, much was expected from Nick Sirianni in the coming seasons. The Eagles were flying high with a 10-1 record in the 2023 season but then, they hit the slump. In the remaining six games, the Eagles could only win one, finishing the regular season at 11-6.

The poor form continued when they lost to Tampa Bay 32-9 in the wild card round. The 2024 season hasn’t been a joyride either. Though Barkley’s 3 touchdowns in the opening game vs. Packers was a debut to remember, the Eagles have lost 2 games since then. The Eagles head coach drew a lot of criticism for throwing the ball at 3rd and 3 at the 10-yard line, up 18-15 against the Atlanta Falcons in week 2, an opportunity that Kirk Cousins and co. capitalized on for the win.

Nick Sirianni Contract: How long is Nick Sirianni with the Eagles?

Nick Sirianni signed a 5-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles on January 24, 2024 to act as the team’s head coach, replacing Doug Pederson. Sirianni’s contract was worth $30-35 million which puts him somewhere in the middle-tier of coaching salaries in the NFL. His current contract runs through the 2025 season, provided the team owner Jeffrey Lurie doesn’t fire him.

Nick Sirianni Salary: How much does Nick Sirianni make a year?

Nick Sirianni is earning $7 million a year as the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles.

Nick Sirianni Record: How has the Eagles coach fared in recent years?

Nick Sirianni has a win-loss record of 36 wins and 19 losses for the 55 games played in the regular season till now. For the postseason, Sirianni has a win-loss record of 2 wins and 3 losses. 2 of these 3 postseason losses have been against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, that too in the NFC Wild Card game.

While team owner Jeffrey Lurie has only fired one coach (Chip Kelly in 2015) in the regular season, it seems unlikely for Sirianni to get fired before the end of the regular season. But that is no indication for Sirianni to just sit back and relax. He might find himself joining Robert Saleh in the list of coaches fired this NFL season.
