New York Knicks sign PJ Tucker to 10-day contract as regular season winds down

Tucker has a career average of 6.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game across 14 seasons.

The forward and free agent P.J. Tucker reached an agreement on Saturday, March 8, to sign a 10-day contract with the New York Knicks. The information comes from Shams Charania of ESPN.

Tucker was available after being waived by the Toronto Raptors in February. His last game was in the first round of the playoffs, playing for the Los Angeles Clippers against the Dallas Mavericks last season.

The 39-year-old veteran joins the Knicks to provide depth at the forward position and bring a voice of experience to the locker room. In addition to being a threat from beyond the arc, an area of weakness for the New York team, he is also known for his leadership.

PJ Tucker’s career over the years

The veteran made his debut when he was selected by the Raptors in the 2006 NBA draft and signed a two-year deal with them. After playing 83 minutes in his rookie season, he was waived by the side. He played for the Hapoel Holon in the Israeli Premier League in the next season and later played with teams like BC Donetsk, Bnei HaSharon, Aris BC, Sutor Basket Montegranaro and Brose Bamberg across various leagues.

In 2012, he signed a two-year deal with the Phoenix Suns, and later returned to the Raptors in 2017. The Houston Rockets signed him on a four-year deal in 2017 and was later traded to the Bucks in 2021. He played the NBA Finals in 2021 and defeated the Suns to win his first NBA Championship as well as the first championship for the Bucks since 1971.

The Miami Heat signed Tucker in 2021, and after spending one year there, he moved to the 76ers on a three-year deal worth $33.2 million. The veteran moved to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2023, but was moved to the Jazz in 2025. This is not it, as the Raptors signed him five days later in a five team trade. However, by the end of February, he was waived by the side.

Tucker has played a total of 883 games across 14 seasons, where he averaged 6.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
