NBA Playoffs Nuggets vs. Thunder: Historic Low-Scoring Q1 Sets Up OKC’s Stunning Game 4 Comeback

The series remains even at 2-2 with the OKC Thunder win

The Nuggets vs. Thunder playoff series has exploded into a tense, unpredictable showdown, with Game 4 adding another twist. Sunday night’s low scoring affair went in favor of OKC Thunder, with the series even after both team’s home court games.

Denver Nuggets were in the groove after their Overtime win against their counterparts in the game 3. Both teams looked exhausted and out of their usual athletic shape in the first quarter. So much so that the score remained 8-17 in favor of OKC by the end of it. It was an unusually low scoring first 12 minutes. The 25 combined points were the lowest in the first quarter in the post-season history.

The Nuggets briefly led the second quarter by a score of 28-25. Russell Westbrook was having an awful day at the offensive end, while the Thunder were again heavily dependent on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for scoring. The home side showed a brilliant performance in the third quarter, blowing out OKC Thunder by 33-21.

The Denver Nuggets had a good lead going into the fourth quarter. Momentum favored Denver entering the final quarter, but OKC had other plans. What followed was shocking not only for the home team but also for the Ball Arena audience who were expecting their side to come all guns blazing.

Thunder Surge, Nuggets Collapse Late

Nikola Jokic was not going well in throughout the Nuggets vs. Thunder game 4 and the credit for that goes to Alex Caruso who was constantly guarding the Serbian. The effects of his performances became more visible in the fourth quarter as the Nuggets went on a turnover spree.

On the other end, OKC Thunder went on a consistent run. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 25 points came handy. Even little contributions from Jalen Williams (10), Alex Caruso (10), Cason Wallace (11), Aaron Wiggins (11) helped the away side clinch a 92-87 win. This results in the playoffs series standing at 2-2 with four games gone.

Nikola Jokic scored 27 points by going 7-22 from the field. The Denver Nuggets had a shooting percentage below 40 which was a major factor in their game 4 loss. The Nuggets vs. Thunder series goes back to Oklahoma City with the score even at 2-2.
