Bucks to blow up if Greek Freak leaves?
The Milwaukee Bucks plan to reshape their entire roster if star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo is on the go. Notably, ever since the NBA 2025 offseason, the rumors of Antetokounmpo wanting to leave the Bucks have been constantly stirring. Multiple sources and insiders have reported that the Greek Freak is not happy with the organization and asked to be traded to the New York Knicks before the beginning of the regular season. However, as the season kicked off, the two-time MVP put to rest all rumors by suggesting that he is ‘locked in’ with the Bucks this season.
Now, as we are a month into the season, Antetokounmpo’s trade rumors have once again started to make the headlines. The Bucks are currently struggling with a 10-13 win-loss record despite notable performance by Antetokounmpo. And it is clear that the nine-time NBA All-Star wouldn’t want to be associated with a team which is pretty much non-serious about winning a championship. Amidst all the fiasco, several teams including the Los Angeles Lakers have emerged as possible suitors for Antetokounmpo. Though, to see which team is able to sign him is something we will have to wait for.

Adding a new twist to the trade drama is the latest report which suggests that the Bucks will blow up their entire roster in case Giannis Antetokounmpo ends up leaving. According to reports by Jake Fischer, the Bucks already have a plan for what they need to do if their legacy player is on the go. “That could mean several different outcomes that the Bucks are indeed projected by rival front offices to be actively pondering in coming weeks,” Fischer reported.
“Some teams out there think the post-Giannis Bucks would want to initiate a full-scale teardown that includes trading away veterans like the title-winning Bobby Portis, February acquisition Kyle Kuzma and offseason addition Myles Turner. Even then, though, there would be loud questions.”
The rumors are not surprising given the Bucks signed Turner and Kuzma to provide some veteran support to Antetokounmpo. If the Greek Freak ends up leaving, there wouldn’t be any practical need for these two. Coming back to the 2021 champion, he is currently out with a right calf strain sustained during the Bucks’ win against the Detroit Pistons on December 3.
He is expected to miss two to four weeks of action due to the same. Antetokounmpo is currently leading the charts with an average of 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. It goes without saying that his potential trade as well as current injury hiatus come as a major setback for the Bucks.
