Milwaukee Bucks Mark Historic NBA Milestone by Signing Alex Antetokounmpo to Two-Way Contract

The Milwaukee Bucks marked a historic NBA milestone by making a significant change in their roster less than two weeks ahead of the regular season opener. According to reports by Shams Charania, they signed Alex Antetokounmpo to a two-way deal, joining older brothers Giannis Antetokounmpo and Thanasis Antetokounmpo. This is the first time in the league that three brothers are on active roster contracts with the same team.

To make way for the 24-year-old Antetokounmpo, the Bucks let go of their guard Jamaree Bouyea. They had signed Bouyea to a two-way deal in March this year after a spot opened up due to Ryan Rollins’ signing. While he didn’t play much and appeared in only five games during the regular season, he dropped a few head-turning performances during the Summer League.

Coming back to Alex Antetokounmpo’s signing, the Bucks now have him, Pete Nance, and Mark Sears in their contract. Though he doesn’t have any prior NBA experience, the Antetokounmpo sibling has G League stints with the Toronto 905 and the Herd. Alex Antetokounmpo has made 65 regular season appearances, while averaging 5.0 points, 2.6 rebounds playing 18.7 minutes per game. He has also played overseas in Spain, Lithuania and Montenegro. Recently, suited up for Aris Betsson in Greece.

What Does Alex Antetokounmpo’s Signing Signify?

The reports of Giannis Antetokounmpo wanting a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks have been making rounds all over the internet time and again. However, the Bucks are digging in their heels, making it clear that they have zero intention of letting go of the best player on their roster anytime soon. Earlier, the Bucks also engaged in trade talks with the New York Knicks after the team emerged as Greek Freak’s desired landing spot. However, per reports from The Post, Milwaukee lacked motivation for a deal.

Recently the star player himself testified that he remains locked in for the new season and will think about his future only after its conclusion. However, it seems that the Bucks are wanting to do their due work which would ensure that the 30-year-old stays with them. With the addition of his younger brothers, Thanasis and now Alex, the Bucks are reinforcing Giannis’ likelihood of remaining with them even after the season.
