Michael Porter Jr. believes his former teammate is truly deserving of the tag 'NBA GOAT'.
Over the years, fans and pundits have presented their passionate opinions on who they think is the NBA GOAT. Most commonly, they pick up from the names including Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, etc. However, Michael Porter Jr. gave his former teammate an edge over these legends. Recently, Porter Jr. was asked who he thinks deserves the tag of the greatest NBA player of all-time. The former Denver Nuggets forward didn’t think twice and picked his ex-teammate, Nikola Jokic, as his GOAT.
Speaking in one of his livestreams, MPJ said, “I’m going Nikola Jokic. The reason I say that is because he could have won MVP five years in a row. Can you name another player that could have won MVP five years in a row? Not really.” He added that he didn’t get to see Michael Jordan playing daily, but has seen Jokic in every game. Porter said, “I didn’t get to see Michael Jordan day in and day out. I get to see Nikola every game, every day… For me, I’m saying him.”

While the 27-year-old didn’t play with names such as Kobe Bryant, Jordan, and LeBron James, he has had multiple occasions to go against James. He thinks all these players are ‘up there’ but remains loyal to the Joker. Porter Jr stated, “But I would say obviously, LeBron, MJ, all them are up there. Kobe up there.”
Having made his NBA debut in 2015, Jokic has spent his entire career with the Nuggets. He has made 745 appearances for the Nuggets and posted a career average of 21.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game. In addition, he is a seven-time NBA All-Star, one time NBA Champion, one time NBA Finals MVP and a three-time NBA MVP.
Michael Porter Jr. is absolutely confident of his abilities and believes that he is the second-best shooter. He opines that the Golden State Warriors great Stephen Curry is the only player who is better than him in terms of shooting skills. The Brooklyn Nets forward spoke on his recent Twitch livestream, where he declared that Curry is the only ‘elite shooter’ who is better than him.
According to the Missouri alum, “Stephen Curry. That’s the only one I’m giving like a clear ‘elite, can shoot better than me.” However, he feels that there are some players who are on the same level as him, but Curry is the only one who is ahead of them. Porter Jr. said, “There’s dudes that are on the same level. I think Klay Thompson. KD, I think… If I got in the gym, like Duncan Robinson, he probably can shoot with me. You know, Trae Young, Dame… But I think Steph is the only one that’s clearly a better shooter.”
There is no doubt about the fact that Curry is one of the greatest shooters the league has ever seen. He holds the record for the most three-pointers made in NBA history with 4,058 3PM in 1,026 games.
