Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. has emerged as one of the stronger scoring options besides the trio of Jokic Jamal Murray and Russell Westbrook. The 26-year-old also played a key role in the Nuggets’ fantastic recent home win against the OKC Thunder. However, his injury concerns have deepened that could have ramifications for the Nuggets roster.
The forward has been playing with a lingering shoulder injury that he suffered in the second game of the first round NBA Playoffs. While diving for a loose ball, his shoulder was hurt badly and the medical staff advised him to go for a surgery that would have taken 4–6 weeks to heal.

This was not ideal for the Denver Nuggets, who were getting battered by the LA Clippers at that time. Porter Jr. refused the advice of the medical staff and featured for the Denver Nuggets. On the incident, the forward said, “They told me it would be a 4 to 6 week injury before I could return. I was like, ‘I’m not doing that’.”
Despite his toughness, Porter Jr. has been battling constant discomfort, relying heavily on pain management. The Nuggets star after the third game against OKC admitted that the medical staff was going up and above for him to play the games.
The shoulder injury of Michael Porter Jr. is aggravating due to a lack of rest. The 26-year-old opened up on the temporary treatment for the shooting hand. He said, “A couple of days in between is helping at this point. I felt a little bit better overall today. I was trying to space out and not do the injection every game, but right now it’s needed.”
Michael Porter Jr. is playing with numbness injections and painkillers. Despite the issue getting more serious, the forward suggested that he will continue playing and will address the medical issue in the off season. He remains one of the most important players in the side and showed his worth on Friday. Even while playing under the effects of injections, Porter Jr. delivered a stellar 21-point performance, hitting 5-of-6 from beyond the arc against OKC.
