Ahead of the 2025-26 season, Cleveland Cavaliers gets a major update on their talented winger. The Cavs winger Max Strus underwent surgery to repair a fracture in his left foot. Initially, the expected recovery time is three to four months. It means, the winger will be out of action for the start of the new NBA season, as per ESPN insider Shams Charania.

What’s Current Status of Max Strus Injury? Will It Trouble Cavaliers in Upcoming Season?

Max Strus got injured during an offseason training session. During the last season, Strus had already been struggling with physical issues. He missed 32 of his team’s 82 regular-season games, primarily due to knee and ankle injuries.

Amid the team’s strong collective performance in 2024-25, the forward saw his scoring average drop from 12.2 to 9.4, his lowest average since his sophomore season. Despite this, he increased his 3-point shooting to 38.6% (compared to 35.1% the previous season).

After not getting picked in the 2019 draft, Strus signed with his hometown team, the Chicago Bulls in the same year. After receiving few opportunities with the team, he signed with the Miami Heat the following year, where he became an important part of Erik Spoelstra’s rotation. The winger landed in Cleveland in 2013 with a four-year, $62.2 million contract.

Over the past few seasons, the Cavaliers have been dealing with a persistent problem. After satisfactory performances in the regular season, the franchise has accumulated disappointments in the playoff race. In 2025-26, entering as the Eastern Conference favorite, they aim to change that.
