Luka Doncic is one of the most electrifying players in the game today. His scoring ability obviously jumps out on top, as there is pretty much nothing anyone can do to slow him down. Similar to James Harden, Doncic has one of the most lethal step-back jumpers we’ve seen in the NBA, and not to forget his deceleration which can snatch a defender’s ankle pretty easily. Complimentary to offensive skills, Doncic is also an extremely skilled playmaker who can create something out of nothing, making his teammates better.

Doncic was traded midway this season to the Los Angeles Lakers, and this is still one of the most controversial trades we’ve ever seen. While it took some time for him to adjust playing for the Lakers, he’s starting to find his rhythm again. He’s 26 year old superstar in his prime currently, and he helped the Lakers secure the 3rd seed in the West this season. They will play the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round, and for Doncic it is a rematch against a team that he knocked out of the playoffs last season.

How Many Playoff Appearances Does Luka Doncic Have?

Luka Doncic has been to the playoffs 5 times in his 7 year NBA career. His first playoff appearance came in the 2019-2020 season where he was defeated by the Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round. In the following season in 2020-21, Doncic and the Mavericks met the Clippers yet again, and Doncic took the Clippers all the way to 7 games, but ultimately came up short again. However, in the 2021-22 season, Doncic and the Mavericks beat the Utah Jazz in the first round, dismantled the best team in the NBA at that time in Phoenix Suns in 7 games, and went all the way into the Western Conference Finals, but came up short against the eventual champions, the Golden State Warriors.

After the Mavs acquired Kyrie Irving, Doncic and Irving’s backcourt combination was lethal. The Mavs went all the way to the NBA Finals last season in 2023-24, but the Celtics defeated them in the Finals to win the NBA championship.

Doncic has played in seven NBA seasons and has appeared in 9 playoff series. The Mavs and the Doncic won 5 of those series and has lost 4, giving him a winning percentage of 55.6% in the playoffs.

Doncic has only been to one NBA Finals so far but he could not get the job done, against the Boston Celtics. The Mavs were thoroughly outclassed by Celtics, and they lost the series 1-4. Now that Doncic is with the Lakers, he’s playing alongside LeBron James, who’s one of the greatest players in the NBA. The combination of these two stars alone, generates championship expectation, and the question to be answered is if the Lakers a championship this season. We’ll find out soon enough.
