LeBron James Unlocks Historic Achievement Despite Not Winning the NBA Season MVP Honor

LeBron James at the age of 40-years is still creating new records and breaking the old ones. Even in one of the toughest seasons of his career, LeBron James still earned a spot on the MVP list.

In doing so, the Los Angeles Lakers’ star became the oldest player. He went on to beat Michael Jordan to become the oldest NBA player to have a vote on his name in the MVP list. LeBron James is 13 months older than Jordan was when he finished 13th while playing for the Wizards in 2001-02.

It is true that King James is nearing the end of his basketball career. He himself admitted recently that he will not be around for longer. His body is also taking a toll playing at the highest level of basketball at the age of 40. The Lakers struggled to stay competitive in the postseason race and failed to make a deep playoff run.

However, despite all the shortcomings LeBron James still put up a decent season. He averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists. This with an equally impressive FG percent of 51.3.

LeBron James Also Holder of Another Unique MVP Award

The Los Angeles Lakers star is not only the oldest MVP candidate to get a vote but also the youngest. At a mere age of 19, LeBron James got himself into the MVP list. The personal records of the power forward speak for himself when it comes to on court prowess.

While in this year’s MVP award, LeBron James went on to finish at the 6th spot. It was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who won the Most Valuable Player award, beating the likes of Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is also in the fight to win his first NBA title, with the OKC Thunder taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Finals.
