LeBron James isn't announcing his retirement!!!
Relax NBA fans! The Los Angeles Lakers icon LeBron James revealed the answer of the ‘second decision’ and it’s not retirement. A couple of days ago, the four-time NBA champion sent social media into a frenzy when he teased an announcement, naming it ‘The Second Decision’. The video went viral on social media within no time, speculating rumors that James was preparing to call time on his career.

However, to everyone’s relief, the decision was unveiled Tuesday morning, and it is that the basketball superstar will sell a ‘limited edition’ collaboration with Hennessy. The reason that the phrase ‘Second Decision’ reignited retirement rumors was because it is a clear reference to his infamous 2010 ESPN special, “The Decision”.

It was a widely criticized television event where James and his team announced that he would join the Miami Heat after spending the first seven years of his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Coming back to the recent tease, the phrase, combined with the tone of the video, fueled speculations that the 22-time All-Star would draw curtains on his legendary career. This led to a significant surge in the price of tickets to the Lakers game. The average price of the tickets increased from $250 to $500 within the hour James dropped the post.
As soon as ‘The Second Decision’ turned out to be nothing but a fake sitdown interview where he announced a partnership with Hennessy, LeBron James faced backlash from fans and pundits alike. Skip Bayless was also one of those who criticized the 40-year-old for creating anticipation with his post. Bayless, on X, wrote, “Come on, LeBron. Seriously? You’re that starved for attention?“
Notably, James is set to create history later this month. He will become the first NBA player to begin his 23rd season in the league. James is currently out of action as his side engages in preseason activities. Moreover, as per reports by Shams Charania, he will miss all six of the Lakers’ preseason contests. The seventeen-time NBA champions will begin their regular season on Tuesday, October 21, against the Golden State Warriors at home.
