Lakers vs Mavericks: Luka Doncic’s debut against the Mavs sets viewership record

The Lakers vs Mavericks matchup recorded 2.5 million viewers and became the most watched game this season, since the opening night.

The Luka Doncic – Anthony Davis trade sent shockwaves through the league. The least expected trade in the history of the NBA between the Mavericks and the Lakers became the talk of the town. Everyone marked their calendars for the next Lakers vs. Mavericks showdown.

The day came and unfortunately Anthony Davis was ruled out for the game. However, all eyes were on Luka Doncic’s debut against the Mavericks, with Nico Harrison in the building.

The Lakers vs Mavericks matchup recorded 2.5 million viewers and became the most watched game this season, since the opening night. The Lakers had a strong eight-point lead going into the half. However, a third-quarter comeback by the Mavs cut down the lead to only a single point.

With all the trade rumors coming out of the Mavs organization, Doncic took it personal and annihilated the Mavs. He recorded his first triple-double of his Lakers’ career and ended the game with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists. His former partner, Kyrie Irving also recorded 35 points and seven rebounds in a fightback against the Lakers.

The Lakers had a strong eight-point lead going into the half. However, a third-quarter comeback by the Mavs cut down the lead to only a single point. LeBron James took over in the fourth-quarter and scored 16 points of the 29 by the Lakers. The chemistry between Doncic and James was visible as three of his assists to James came in the fourth quarter to ice out the game for the Lakers. The Lakers ended up winning the game 99-107.

The game also had some fiery moments as Luka Doncic stared down the Mavericks bench after hitting a three-pointer. The Lakers fan also thanked Dallas Mavericks GM, Nico Harrison and chanted “Thank you Nico” for sending Luka Doncic to the Lakers.
