Lakers: Decisions Coming on Two-Way Contracts

April 13 is the deadline for NBA teams to decide whether to convert two-way contracts into standard contracts, making those players eligible for the playoffs. For the Lakers, two names to watch are Trey Jemison and Christian Koloko.

As a reminder, players on two-way contracts are not eligible to play in the postseason unless their deals are converted to full-time contracts.

Both Jemison and Koloko, currently on two-way deals, are in the mix for a potential spot on the Lakers’ final playoff roster. They both play at the center position.

And when it comes to that position, there’s no guarantee that Alex Len will finish the season in a Lakers uniform. His performance so far has been underwhelming: 2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game over nine appearances. That raises a question for the Lakers front office: Should they waive Alex Len before the April 13 deadline?

Trey Jemison began the 2024-25 season with the New Orleans Pelicans, also on a two-way contract. Since joining the Lakers, he’s averaging 2.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in 10.7 minutes per game.

Christian Koloko, meanwhile, is averaging 2.4 points and 2.4 rebounds over 35 games this season.

Currently sitting third in the Western Conference, the Lakers will have to fight hard down the stretch to hold onto that spot, which would give them home-court advantage in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
