LA Clippers Target TyTy Washington for Final Roster Spot, Exhibit 10 Deal Likely For Development Path

The LA Clippers are making final adjustments to their roster as the 2025 NBA preseason winds down. With championship aspirations for 2026, the team is reportedly set to sign guard TyTy Washington Jr., according to The Athletic.

Washington is expected to join the LA Clippers on an Exhibit 10 contract, which would allow the team to assign him to their G League affiliate, the San Diego Clippers. The move comes ahead of the team’s final two preseason games, both on the road within their division. The Clippers currently hold a 1-1 preseason record, most recently falling to the Denver Nuggets.

This isn’t TyTy Washington’s first stint with the LA Clippers. He previously signed an Exhibit 10 deal earlier in the offseason but was waived in September. If the move is finalized before Wednesday, Washington could see action in the remaining preseason contests, offering him a chance to showcase his skills and potentially earn a standard contract later in the NBA season. The Clippers still have an open roster spot, which could be used on TyTy Washington if he impresses.

LA Clippers Reconnect With Former Prospect

Washington’s journey to this point has been winding. A highly touted recruit out of high school, he committed to play for John Calipari at Kentucky. During his lone season with the Wildcats, he was the team’s second-leading scorer behind Oscar Tshiebwe, who earned National Player of the Year honors. After a strong freshman campaign, he declared for the NBA Draft.

Selected 29th overall by the Memphis Grizzlies, TyTy Washington was traded twice before signing his rookie deal with the Houston Rockets. He appeared in 31 games during his rookie season but struggled to find a consistent role. Following another trade in the 2023 offseason, Washington has yet to secure a stable spot in an NBA rotation.

Despite the challenges, TyTy Washington has thrived in the G League, averaging over 21 points per game in each season he’s played. His scoring ability and potential make him a valuable prospect for the LA Clippers, especially as they look to build depth behind their veteran-heavy core led by James Harden and Kawhi Leonard.
