Thompson achieved the milestone in just 798 games.
Veteran guard Klay Thompson reached another career milestone in the Dallas Mavericks’ game against the Houston Rockets on Thursday at the American Airlines Center.
The former Warriors star, who recently set a new franchise record for most 3Ps on debut, became the sixth player in NBA history to make 2,500 3-pointers, joining legends like Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, and Stephen Curry.
The milestone 3-pointer came midway in the fourth quarter. With Mavericks trailing by 7 points, Thompson sank a perfect 3-pointer from behind the arc to enter the 2500 3Ps club.

The 34-year-old is the second-fastest player to reach 2,500 career 3-pointers, achieving the milestone in 798 games. Thompson’s former teammate, Stephen Curry, holds the record as the fastest to reach 2,500 career 3-pointers, doing so in just 702 games.
However, Klay Thompson’s milestone night was overshadowed by the Mavericks’ 102-108 home loss to the Rockets.
Luka Doncic was the top scorer for the hosts, finishing with 29 points, and five rebounds. Meanwhile, Kyrie Irving also had a productive game, sinking 28 points, 8 rebounds, and seven assists. Klay Thompson finished the night with 12 points paced the Mavs.
Reggie Miller, Damian Lillard, James Harden, Ray Allen, and Stephen Curry are the other NBA stars who have made 2,500 career 3-pointers. Miller ranks fifth on the list with 2,560 three-pointers, while Lillard holds the fourth spot with 2,619.
Los Angeles Clippers’ star James Harden is third on the list with 2952 career 3Ps followed by Ray Allen who finished his career with 2973 career 3-pointers.
