Kirk Cousins’ Career-High Passing Yards, KhaDarel Hodge TD in overtime help Falcons defeat Tampa Bay

Kirk Cousins-led Atlanta Falcons have defended their home turf against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a Thursday Night Football thriller that went to overtime. ‘The Dirty Birds’ were behind 27-30 in the closing seconds of regulation time but Younghoe Koo converted a 52-yard field goal to push the game into overtime.

The Atlanta Falcons won the toss in overtime and started the proceedings. A pass from Kirk Cousins was caught by wide receiver Drake London, giving the Falcons a first down. KhaDarel Hodge then caught a 45-yard pass from Cousins for a game-winning touchdown.

Kirk Cousins enters the 500-yard Club

Kirk Cousins became a member of the elite 500-yard Club after he threw a career-high of 509 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Falcons vs. Buccaneers game. Cousins, who was already averaging just under 220 passing yards through his first 4 games, set the Mercedes-Benz stadium on fire with his heroics.

The Atlanta Falcons quarterback now ranks 15th on the all-time list of most passing yards in an NFL game. The all-time record for most passing yards in an NFL game belongs to Norm Van Brocklin while playing for the New York Rams, dated back to September 28, 1951 against the New York Yanks.
