Kevin Durant Trade Talks Intensify as Spurs Leads the Race, Knicks, Heat and More Also in the Mix

Kevin Durant is on the verge of leaving the Phoenix Suns, with five teams actively exploring a trade

Kevin Durant is now closer than ever to leaving the Phoenix Suns. The NBA veteran has been actively looking for a new chapter after his Suns move backfired. Despite having one of the NBA’s costliest rosters, the Suns have failed to live up to expectations.

The 36-year-old remains desperate to prove himself and capture another NBA title. He wants to make a point that despite leaving the Golden State Warriors, he is capable of winning a ring. That has yet to happen, and his championship window is now beginning to close.

NBA Insider Shams Charania reports that trade talks involving Kevin Durant are progressing rapidly. The Suns management and Durant’s business partner Rich Kleiman are constantly working together to find a solution quickly with a trade possible in the next couple of weeks.

Shams Charania posted, “The Phoenix Suns and Kevin Durant’s business partner, Rich Kleiman, are sorting through trade options – with interested teams mainly featuring Houston, San Antonio, Minnesota, Miami and New York.”

Among these five NBA sides, Kevin Durant is reportedly sliding more on the San Antonio Spurs. His former team, the Golden State Warriors, remain out of contention due to salary cap restrictions.

Durant Responds to Fan Criticism Online

Since it is the off season, many NBA stars are casually spending their time traveling or just chilling out. However, Kevin Durant is currently taking a swipe at social media fans. The Phoenix Suns star recently engaged with multiple people online who criticized him.

Most of the backlash focused on his failure to win a title after leaving the Golden State Warriors. Durant quickly argued that it wasn’t his fault, noting basketball is a team game unlike tennis, which is played individually.

The 36-year-old also justified his individual form on the court by putting up recent numbers and individual accolades. Many fans on social media mocked his reasoning, suggesting Durant was once again chasing a readymade contender after failed stints in Brooklyn and Phoenix.
