A consensus four-star recruit, Fears showcased his skills at Joliet WEst High School before transferring to AZ Compass Prep, where he averaged 14.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.5 steals as a junior. Ranked among the top 40 prospects by ESPN, he initially committed to Illinois but later reclassified to join Oklahoma’s 2024 class, becoming the program’s highest rated recruit since Trae Young.

The Pelicans, after trading away Brandon Ingram, needs a reliable scorer and Fears is come in and fill that role, if he gets drafted by New Orleans.
