Jaylen Brown Playoffs Run Came With a Torn Meniscus, Forward To Consider Surgery As Celtics Injury Woes Continue

Jaylen Brown pushed through pain, but the Celtics’ injuries couldn’t be outrun

Jaylen Brown played the entire playoffs with a torn meniscus, relying on injections to stay on the floor. Despite worsening pain, the Celtics star powered through with multiple pain management injections just to stay game-ready. Now that the Celtics’ season is over, Brown will decide whether offseason surgery is the next step.

According to ESPN, Jaylen Brown suffered a torn meniscus after a knee injury in March, which is why he also missed the Celtics’ last three games of the regular season. The 28-year-old was not 100 percent fit, but had to play through the playoffs. The first round series against the Orlando Magic was a physical one, which had its toll on the injury as well.

The Celtics’ management will reevaluate him after a week and a decision will then be made if a surgery is required or not. With the pain getting worse with time, Brown will need to take care of the torn meniscus at some point in time. And what better than the off season.

Jaylen Brown had a fine outing throughout the playoffs this season for the Boston Celtics. Despite playing through an injury, the forward averaged 22.3 points and 7.2 rebounds. He also scored 20 points with 6 assists, and 6 rebounds against the New York Knicks on Friday.

Celtics Collapse Under Injury Pressure

The Boston Celtics were plagued with various injuries and fitness issues throughout their playoffs campaign this season. The latest one was a huge blow for them. Jayson Tatum went off during the game 4, and he is expected to be out for at least nine months due to the Achilles rupture.

Jrue Holiday, who stepped up in Tatum’s absence was also reeling with a hamstring strain that he suffered during the round one action. Kristaps Porzingis while not suffering a major injury suggested that he was going through an energy crash from the first round concussion scare.

Ultimately, the Celtics were physically drained and too injury-riddled to power a serious playoff push. And it is highly likely that the team will see major changes due to the luxury tax apron and also the injury tolls on many of its key players.
