Kristaps Porzingis Teases Octagon Debut
Kristaps Porzingis has already planned how his post retirement years would go by. The former Boston Celtics player has the physique and attitude to try his hand at fighting as well, which is precisely what he wants to do next in his life.
He recently expressed strong interest in joining MMA after wrapping up his basketball career for good. In a recent interview, Porzingis highlighted that he is very passionate about Mixed Martial Arts and that he’s saving himself for a full career there.

Kristaps Porzingis said, “MMA is a sport that’s very close to my heart. It’s number one for watching. It’s something I get fired up about, so I decided to join a new MMA project. Everything is still in process — once we get closer to the final result, I’ll be able to share more.”
He added, “This summer, I’ve also tried MMA, but I promised one of the clubs I represent that I wouldn’t pursue it during my basketball career. I’m saving myself for an MMA career after basketball.”
Kristaps Porzingis recently made a big career move, agreeing to join the Atlanta Hawks. The big center was traded by the Celtics in a three-team deal involving the Atlanta Hawks and Brooklyn Nets that sent Terance Mann to Brooklyn as part of the exchange. Georges Niang and a first-round pick moved to Boston.
Porzingis on the move said, “I think expectations are high. Atlanta’s been on the edge of the playoffs the last few years, sometimes getting through the first round. It’s a great situation for me to come in and contribute. Maybe even better than Boston, where it was championship or bust.”
He added, “Here, the pressure isn’t the same — it’s easier to exceed expectations. That’s a better position to be in. It’s in our hands now, and I think we can surprise some people in the East.”
