The Golden State Warriors have been inactive in the market all summer, despite seeing some outgoings. With just a few days ahead of the training camp, the front office has suffered another blow, according to an NBA analyst.

The seven-time NBA champions have been searching for a defensive specialist and a versatile shooting guard to bolster their rotation. Reports earlier indicated that Golden State could make a move for Russell Westbrook, who decided to not exercise his player option with the Nuggets.

Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus has suggested that the former MVP is more likely to end up at the Sacramento Kings. The Kings are in the search for a back-up to Dennis Schroder, and Westbrook is being seen as the ideal pick in the current market conditions.

He suggested, “The Sacramento Kings stand out as his obvious next home, as they need a point guard to back up Dennis Schröder.”

If the move takes place, then the Golden State Warriors will lose out on another off-season target. They have an aging roster with core players facing fitness issues consistently. Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler both missed key playoff games, raising concerns about the team’s aging and injury-prone core.

Kuminga’s Contract Standoff Delays Golden State Warriors’ Incomings

The Golden State Warriors are more likely to sign Al Horford from the free agency but, the front office awaits clarification from the players’ camp. A deal appears within reach between both parties, but ongoing uncertainty around Kuminga’s future continues to delay finalization.

Jonathan Kuminga is looking to move on from the Bay Area, but has failed to attract serious interest so far. Many believe that there is no market for the forward, especially given his steep salary demands.

A more likely scenario could be Kuminga extending his stay by signing the qualifying offer. This would settle down the dust for the time being, but Warriors risk further value depletion of their young star.
