This dunk is an instant classic, capturing the raw power and athleticism of a two-time MVP. Vucevic never saw it coming—and the internet can't get enough!
The Milwaukee Bucks faced off against the Chicago Bulls Friday night at Fiserv Forum, but it was the Bulls who stole the win, finishing 133-122 and leveling their season record at 1-1. Still, all the buzz is around one thing: Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo’s jaw-dropping dunk.
The two-time MVP hammered down a powerful dunk that completely posterized Bulls center Nikola Vucevic. It’s no surprise that clip is spreading like wildfire.
In a game as tight as this, a high-energy play like Antetokounmpo’s dunk is exactly the kind of push a team needs to gain momentum, and it did just that. The Bucks went on to score six straight points without a reply.
Giannis wrapped up the night with a huge stat line, securing a double-double with 38 points (15-of-23), 11 rebounds, and adding five assists.
For the Bulls, their offense was anchored by point guard Coby White, who posted 35 points, with Zach LaVine adding 25 points and Josh Giddey contributing 17. Despite being on the receiving end of Giannis’ poster, Vucevic held his own, scoring 22 points.
After combining for 55 points in their previous win over Philadelphia, Milwaukee’s star duo ramped up the offensive pressure against Chicago, scoring 66 points between them.
But the game had a different feel to it.
The Bulls had a tough time keeping Damian Lillard in check as he scored 28 points. They tried to double-team him early in plays, forcing another Buck to start the offense. But this tactic only momentarily slowed Lillard down.
While Giannis and Lillard put up impressive numbers, the Bucks’ supporting cast seemed more like spectators.
At one point, when Chicago held an 84-81 lead midway through the third quarter, Giannis and Lillard had already combined for 47 points on 30 shots, while the rest of the Bucks lineup had collectively scored 34 points on the same number of attempts.
By the end, Giannis had taken 23 shots and Lillard 21. The six other Bucks rotation players attempted a combined 43 field goals, adding up to 45 points.
This scoring imbalance ultimately proved costly. Key secondary players like Gary Trent Jr. (3 for 8), Brook Lopez (2 for 10), and Bobby Portis Jr. (4 for 9) never managed to find a solid rhythm, which left the Bucks just short of keeping up with the Bulls.
