Greek star commits to national duty as Bucks' offseason direction wins his trust

Giannis Antetokounmpo has committed to play for Greece in the upcoming EuroBasket tournament. He will be leading his national side at the European competition that begins from August 27.

The 30-year-old dominated offseason headlines amid speculation he might leave the Milwaukee Bucks. Frustrated with the Bucks’ lack of aggressive moves, Giannis was reportedly weighing his options earlier this summer.

Talks of his exit have cooled after a major breakthrough between Giannis and the Bucks front office. Since then, the Milwaukee franchise has made multiple offseason additions to strengthen their roster.

With key offseason additions, the Bucks now look poised for a serious Eastern Conference run. They are one of the favorites for a deep post season run in the Eastern Conference, something that couldn’t be achieved during the previous season.

Giannis now shifts focus to leading Greece deep into EuroBasket contention. He won’t be the only NBA star in Europe, Nikola Jokic is also set to represent Serbia.

EuroBasket 2025 will begin on Wednesday, August 27 and wrap up on Sunday, September 14. The group stage games will be held in two cities, Riga in Latvia and Tampere in Finland, with both Group A and Group B kicking off on opening day.

As the tournament progresses, the knockout rounds and final will take place in Riga. The championship game is scheduled for the evening of September 14, bringing together the top teams in European basketball.
